I didnt realise how long its been since i stopped using this account... wow.
but something hit me recently... Deviant art, is actually a very nice social networking site.

if used properly.

theres nothing I like more than browsing other peoples work and being inspired by and awed by all the wonderfully talented people out there, and I also like the fact that maybe someones looking at my work and thinking... "hmm I like that." (well I hope so anyways).

I realised that my main problem with deviant art hasnt actually been the art, or even the type of art people produce, its been some of the people.

at the risk of sounding long winded (and hell if I care since this is my last journal on this account) I am appalled at just how much resentment and spitefulness some people harbor. first of all I think art as a whole is about your own personal expression, this falls under things that represent your lifestyle like, hobbies, friends, places and some times even fetishes. the only pieces that I think shouldnt be here are the things exposing underage children and pieces that any government would deem unsuitable and illegal.

what really bothers me though are the people that feel they need to "hit out" out other peoples approach to expression.

eg 1 "ew furry.". well. to start with regarding the whole furry thing, i think as long as someone isnt hinting at the fact that they want to rape their pet I think people that draw anthro stuff should be able to do it in piece without being accused of wanting to sleep with animals.

eg 2 "I hate fan art" want to know my ( and a good 90% of the art communitys-) response to that? who cares? If someone likes something it is their right to draw it and expose it to other people who can freely appreciate it, it will get more views than origional work, but thats what happens. if views and being popular is what matters to you, then your at the wrong place.

eg 3 "oh no. naked people on my screen?" if your not mature enough to simply ignore something that makes you uncomfortable there are settings in place so you can be more precise in what your looking for. chances are you either have male or female genitalia so surely your grown up enough to browse past it. these pictures get bumped up to the front page because of the amount of people looking at them and "appreciating" them, so rather than blame DA, use the tools they give you to avoid adult content.

eg 4 "*cough* your sexuality makes me uncomfortable." my response: "and who are you again?" dont rant and rave about people just because someone dumb lashed out at your out of DA activities, they dont matter, their opinion is mere data, unless you know them in reality and if that is the case, why do you associate yourself with them? also generalization of sexuality really bugs me, if you have a bad experience with either a gay, lesbian or bi person dont say stupid things like "I hate bi/gay/lesbian folk" lets face it; you dont know them all, and you might be mocking someone your close to and not even realise it, which is extremely unfair.

eg 5 "that picture of you in your room sucks" and again my response to that would be "who cares?" if its art to the person who took it then its deviant art worthy. if you upload work on here you must think your work is worthy of being on the site so what gives you the right to say someone else's isnt? whether its low quality high quality prof quality it really doesnt matter. if you dont like it no ones forcing you to look at it.

those are a few of the things that really bother me about the atitudes of some people. and its a lot of the reason i felt i had to escape to another account to get away from all the bull. but Iv learnt recently that someones work can be amazing but they can still fail at being a decent human being.

if you want a website where everything is catered exactly to your every need and expectation then my best advice is to buy a good server and learn some web coding because thats the only time its going to happen.

talk about yourself to your hearts content on DA I really am genuinely interested in what goes on in a lot of peoples lives on here especially if their my friends. but when your mocking and ridiculing others because of an interest they happen to have then i think its a bit selfish. I've pretty much untagged the journal button on my friends and contacts list (for a few people at least) because of how negative they are, like i stated earlier. just because i like your art doesnt mean I have to like you. and you guys are welcome to think the same

just to clarify this is not a stab at anyone nor is it an attempt to take a "I'm more holier than thou" attitude. and in essence someone might say "well...your complaining about people complaining", yes. yes I am. but i have to listen to you too.

just to note though that the people that do manage to write a journal about their own current events, without offending anybody in the process, I commend you! you should be able to write about your life and happenings without nasty whispering going on in the shadows.

(also feel free to note me if you think i am aiming this at you or even if i offended you in the process, I'd like to feel I'm quite open minded, so please do tell me if I'm being waayy out of line. because i want to make sure this point gets across to the right people and that I'm not upsetting anyone I actually like. not thats its aimed at anyone specifically anyway.)

if I'd have realized it sooner I wouldnt have gone to my "with cherry" account... I also realize that maybe I have been guilty of some of the things Ive mentioned above, and if I've ever offended you I whole heartedly apologise.

(also as a side note, I'm keeping this account open but this is my final update. I'll comment people back and stuff still but I have pretty much moved here
